Te Ara o Maria – Celebrating the dedication of Aotearoa to Our Lady of the Assumption:
August 14 @ 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm
In January 1838, Bishop Pompallier dedicated New Zealand to Mary, Assumed into Heaven. Apart from celebrating Holy Mass, it was the first thing he did!
Enjoy being with Mary in the beautiful surroundings of the Sanctuary of Fourvière as the story of this significant dedication is recalled by Sr Thérèse Assémat and Dr Robert Loretz.
Let’s join together in procession from the Shrine of Mary into the Chapel for an evening of prayer and music to Mary for her intercession for New Zealand.
This event is in communion with the NZ Bishops’ Conference who will be celebrating a formal Mass at St Mary of the Angels in Wellington the following day on the 15th of August, the Feast of the Assumption.
