EXPLORING EARLY CHRISTIANITY:  Fr Frank Kelly will give a series of talks on Sundays in September:
3 September: Before the Gospels were produced. Looking at the 1st century timeline after Jesus.
10 September: Looking at the Acts of the Apostles and the origins of the 4 Gospels.
17 September: Looking at St Paul, the Council of Jerusalem and the Antioch division.
24 September: Jewish spirituality, the gospel canon, Church Fathers, pagan beliefs and Pompeii.

JESUS YOUTH CHRISTCHURCH: celebrating 10 years of active presence with a “Music Fest”. This will be held on Saturday, 09 September 2017 at St. Teresa of Lisieux parish, 8 Puriri Street, Riccarton, Christchurch. The evening will begin at 5pm with Holy Mass, followed by Music, Audio-Visuals, Testimonies & Worship till 8pm at the Parish hall. All are welcome.”

Posters have been distributed inviting entries from Year 7-13 students in Catholic Primary Schools and Colleges in the Christchurch Diocese. The topic is – Immigration – and invites students to look at present immigration to Aotearoa New Zealand as well as their own family journey here.
The prizes are: Years 7-8,  First prize, $150.00.  Years 9-10  First prize $300.00.  Years 11-13  First prize $500.00.  All successful entries receive a free Movie pass. More information and contact details may be found on the poster.


A MASS IN PORTUGESE  will be held at St Peter’s Church Beckenham on Sunday 27 August 2017 at 4.00pm.

TOYS WANTED:  SVDP Saturday Toy Stall at Stanmore Road is a great success!  But you know what that means…we are running low on toys… Can your family help?  What about turning the toy box upside down and digging out all those pre-loved toys that the kids have grown out of?  Another child could still get a lot of fun from them!  A great weekend activity for the family in winter!
Please make sure the toys are in good condition; clean and not broken.  Thanks!

A PLIGRIMAGE DAY WITH OUR LADY OF FATIMA: A Day with Our Lady of Fatima will be held at the Sacred Heart Basilica in Timaru on Saturday 19th  August 2017 (the Centenary of 4th Apparition at Fatima). The day will commence at 11. 00am with Mass and conclude at 3 30pm. The day will include Adoration, Confession, talks and more. Please bring something to share for Lunch. A bus will leave Christchurch at 8am from Our Lady of Victories Parish, Main South Road and arrive back in Christchurch at 6pm. Fare is a donation.
